FLU VACCINE QUESTIONS

Is the flu vaccine free in Arklow?

Yes, for eligible groups, including everyone aged 65 and over, pregnant women, children aged 2 to 17 and people with long-term conditions. Medical Card and GP Visit Card holders in these groups pay nothing.

When should I get the flu vaccine?

As early in the season as possible, ideally in October, before flu starts spreading. It takes about two weeks to work.

Can I get the flu and Covid-19 vaccines together?

Yes. Most people can have both at the same appointment.

Do I need to be a Maryville Surgery patient?

Yes, our flu clinics are for registered patients

My child is afraid of needles. Is there another option?

Children aged 2 to 17 get the flu vaccine as a nasal spray, not an injection. It’s quick and painless.
